"But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, 'Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it'" (Numbers 13:30).
Caleb trusted the promises and the power of God. His faith gave him confidence even as the crowd of his countrymen trembled with dear and unwillingness to enter the promised land. In this way, Caleb is a good example for us. Do we trust God's promises even when all the people around us do not?
This is important in our time because the culture we live in does not trust God and Christians are greatly impacted by this culture. Take for example the was Christian parents think about raising their children or the way we look to secular psyhcology and public education for help with our troubles and preparation for the future. Even many Christian schools lean heavily on these things.
Caleb's example is important in our lives because we must be people who bravely follow God's calling and leading no matter what others may be thinking of our behavior. If God says go, we go. If God says stay, we stay. All the world may object, but we must follow our God.
What brave thing is God calling us to? How can we serve and obey our God, though the world thinks we are fools?
