Not Ashamed

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek" (Rom 1:16).

God is almighty. He sits enthroned in the heavens and does whatever he pleases (Ps 115:3). There are none greater than him. None can stop his from accomplishing his purposes (Dan 4:35). He is powerful. And his power is on display in the gospel. The Holy Spirit, through the pen of the apostle Paul, tells us God exercises his limitless power to save sinners.

Everyone who believes enjoys the mighty outpouring of sovereign grace that powerfully transforms the dead sinner into a born-again man or woman. This power comes to all who believe in the good news of Jesus Christ, the gospel.  This gospel if for people from all nations. Jews first and also Greeks. This gospel powerfully saves individual sinners from their otherwise just desserts and unites divided peoples into one holy nation. This gospel brings glory to God, the creator and benefactor of the universe.

Therefore, we must not be ashamed. The is no greater story than the gospel. There is no greater result than salvation to everyone who believes. There is no greater kingdom than God's kingdom. This is so, because there is no greater God than our God!

What are ways you can demonstrate your belief in God and your confidence in his power today? What are ways you can prove that you, like Paul, are not ashamed of the gospel?
